Today is the worldwide launch of Reactions, the new Like buttons with more ways to express yourself.

After many years of requests from Facebook users, the social networking giant is ready to introduce new buttons. What is more, Facebook seems to exceed their expectations as instead of a highly anticipated and widely commented dislike button, they get 5 new reactions to express their feelings.

“Not every moment you want to share is happy. Sometimes you want to share something sad or frustrating. Our community has been asking for a dislike button for years, but not because people want to tell friends they don’t like their posts. People wanted to express empathy and make it comfortable to share a wider range of emotions. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the right way to do this with our team. One of my goals was to make it as simple as pressing and holding the Like button,” says Mark Zuckerberg

The result is Reactions, which allow you to express love, laughter, surprise, sadness or anger.

Love is the most popular reaction so far, which feels about right to me!

News Feed is the central way you can get updates about your friends, family and anything that matters most to you, it is also the central place to have conversations with the people you care about. For a long time people were asking for more ways to easily and quickly express how something they see in News Feed makes them feel. That’s why today’s lunch of Reactions, will be a memorable day for Facebook savvies. Reaction is an extension of the Like button to give you more ways to share your reaction to a Facebook post in a quick and easy way. Over time Facebook is planning to set different algorithms based on your Reactions and your NEWS Feed should be weighted accordingly.

“Love is the most popular reaction so far, which feels about right to me!,” he adds.

Will this impact your Page?
Facebook see this as an opportunity for businesses and publishers to better understand how people are responding to their content on Facebook. Page owners will be able to see Reactions to all of their posts on Page insights. Reactions will have the same impact on ad delivery as likes.
