ASUS’ newly available routers with an in-built NordVPN subscription can be an excellent solution for small businesses or home use, offering an affordable alternative to the more costly solutions with in-built VPN modules. Using VPN on the router can provide an additional layer of protection and convenience, automatically protecting the devices in the network from ill-intended outsiders (hackers etc.)
It allows users to connect to a safe encrypted data transfer channel not only computers and phones but also smart TV, gaming consoles, smart devices and other IoT devices that may not support VPN on their own. Such an approach minimizes the risk of an unprotected device getting used as an access point for attacks.
Aside from that, centralized administration of VPN simplifies adjusting and managing the safety policies for all the devices in the network. Additional advantages may include the protection of an online personality through hiding the IP address and safe use of publicly available WiFi access points. VPN on the router can also hide the traffic of the entire network from the Internet service provider, which helps to avoid monitoring from the ISP’s side.
