Tools for simplifying the work of office employees are a huge industry, it can take forever to list all the unicorns, public companies, and simply successful technologies. Manual workers don’t get even a tiny share of such attention. ‘You take that rug and there you go!’ remains the most widespread automation method globally. Nobody will try such tricks with a programmer.
Beekeeper, the Swiss startup of the day, tries to fill this niche to some extent. Its product is a mobile app for individual contributors. The person installs it on their phone and has a chat with colleagues and bosses, announcements around the entire hotel, instructions, latest orders, and even basic pointers for novices. Его продукт – мобильное приложение для линейных сотрудников. Work becomes easier, work becomes more understandable, it is better executed, and the employee turnover rate decreases.
And apparently, the bigger the organization is, the more helpful the app gets. One of the actively advertised features is the automatic translation of texts into other languages. I.e. supposedly, Beekeeper gets purchased at a central office for all the countries and not on the level of a local franchisee or a branch of a global brand.
The company is over ten years old, it brought in its first big round right before the pandemic, altogether it had USD 200M invested in it.
