The US electric manufacturer wants to outfit Orlen with e-filling stations

The chances are, at least one person in your life has recently purchased a Tesla. They are one of the most talked-about car manufacturers in the world. But, if you’re thinking about buying one then there are a few things you need to consider before you go ahead with it. Firstly, have you looked at this hartford auto insurance review to see how expensive it will be to insure? You don’t want to buy the latest model just to find you can’t afford insurance. Secondly, and most importantly, how many charging stations are there near you? This is a big issue for a lot of wannabe Tesla owners as they would like to invest in an electric car but there aren’t any charging points near them. Thankfully, the charging point infrastructure is finally being improved.

Orlen Deutschland, a German unit of the major Polish refiner PKN ORLEN SA and Tesla Motors team up to equip two star petrol stations with Tesla’s superchargers – the world’s fastest charging ports. To start out the second part of the year, Tesla owners will be able to recharge their set of wheels for free in just half an hour.

“The partnership with Tesla expands star’s offering of alternative mobility solutions, making an important contribution to resource conservation,” said star managing director and spokesman Wieslaw Milkiewicz.

Two star filling stations – one at Grimmen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the other in Uckerfelde in Brandenburg (near the Polish border) are currently being equipped with Superchargers, for up to four cars. Both of the stations are just off the motorway, open 24 hours and inviting to their spacious star Café for a coffee and a snack while waiting for the car to charge up. A half an hour charge powers up the zero-emissions Tesla S sports car for a range of 270 kilometres; 40 minutes is enough to reach 80% battery capacity, which is enough to travel the international Supercharger network. The two star Supercharger stations is a beginning of an expansion of Tesla’s planned Europe-wide network of charging stations strategically spaced approximately every 200 km.

Star is the petrol station brand of ORLEN Deutschland GmbH, which has been operating more than 550 petrol stations in the northern half of Germany since 2003. Based in Elmshorn near Hamburg, the company is part of the Polish oil and petrochemicals group PKN ORLEN SA, which is the largest company in Eastern Europe and one of the largest Central European corporate groups with annual turnover of 26 billion euros in 2014.
