It is probably the most important transaction on the Polish web hosting market

The Poland’s leading web hoster has been purchased by United Internet, a German internet services group. The value of the transaction is PLN 640 mln, which is 15 times higher than the financial results of the Szczecin-based company.

Home.pl is led by private equity fund V4C Eastern Europe and employs 240 people to serve 30,000 customers. With annual sales of approximately EUR 25 million and EBITDA projected to be around EUR 10 million in 2015, it ranks 12th worldwide and 6th in Europe among the country domains.

“With the acquisition of home.pl, we are excellently positioned in Europe with our web hosting and cloud computing products,” commented Ralph Dommermuth, CEO of United Internet, on the transaction. “Especially in Germany, the UK, Spain and Poland, where we are the clear market leader.”

In the company’s announcement, United Internet confirms that home.pl will continue to operate as an independent company and there is no change planned in the composition of its current management team. Together with the United Internet brand 1&1, which has already been operating in Poland since 2010, the aim is to gain further ground on the Polish market and strengthen the company’s leading position in Europe.

As home.pl turned 18 this year, we can see the company is mature enough for expanding its influences westwards.
