When Should Startups Go To A Big Show Like MWC?

A record-setting 101,000 people attended Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, making it the most successful in the event’s history. But while MWC is known as one of the biggest mobile trade shows on the calendar the cost of attendance, both in money and resource, doesn’t come cheap. So, when is an entrepreneur or small business ready to get the most out of an event like MWC or it’s little sister, 4 Years From Now, specifically for startups? And is there greater value in attending or exhibiting? For insights on both sides of the stand, I spoke with Ana Segurado Escudero, Director of Open Future, Telefonica’s accelerator, scale up and venture capital arm as well two entrepreneurs who managed to impress her.
