Want to try out a USB Beacon? Join the new USB Beacon Beta Program launched by Kontakt.io

On February 11th, 2016, Kontakt.io, a leading beacon provider of Polish origin, announced the launch of USB Beacon Beta Program, making its brand new USB beacon available for anyone who wants to try it out. There is a small batch (3,000 units) of USB beacons already waiting for clients and their feedback.

“We don’t like to make a proximity device that’s the same as what you can already find in the marketplace, so it may surprise you to see that we’re testing what looks like yet another USB beacon,” says Trevor Longino, head of product at Kontakt.io.

Derived from Kontakt’s award-winning smart beacon, the USB prototype features a full USB communication connection along with a data port on the side of the beacon and is very easy to set up. What is more, the little device provides a full signal coverage, thanks to its USB plug that works as a kind of waveguide to prevent the signal from reaching out equally well on all sides of the device.

Anyone who wants to get some hands-on experience with the USB beacon can buy it for $20. The order, however, has to be made directly from Kontakt.io on request. All you need to do is to drop an email at [email protected] with “USB Beacon” in the subject line. For more information on the device, you can check the overview page.
